Findings in a research project of RWTH Aachen highlight that radiating cables deliver exceptional network performance in underground tunnels, outperforming traditional MiMo directional antennas. These cables ensure consistent and uniform coverage by effectively distributing electromagnetic waves throughout the mine. With just two installed radiating cables, data rates comparable to a conventional 4×4 MiMo radio with directional antennas have been achieved, ensuring reliable network use even in challenging conditions.
